You might have heard of him: a young Italian motorcycle racer who already has six MotoGP World Championships under his belt and ranks as the most successful rider in the 500cc/MotoGP class, with 82 victories.
The name is Rossi, Valentino Rossi – aka “The Doctor”, the 35-year old who always races with the number 46 on his bike, irrespective of whether he’s the reigning champion or not.
Apart from motorcycles, Rossi likes his four wheels, too. As early as 2006, he tested a Ferrari F1 car in Valencia, beating seasoned Red Bull Racing’s David Coulthard and Mark Webber and being only half a second slower than Michael Schumacher, who praised the young Italian and said he could enter F1 and be instantly competitive.
Rallying was also on the agenda, with the late Colin McRae teaching the young Rossi the ropes of driving a WRC car and competing in various events.
His latest stunt on four wheels, though, is an impossible overtaking maneuver at the Monza Rally Show. With the track being extremely tight, the corners even more show, overtaking was extremely difficult.
Apparently, The Doctor didn’t mind and when the car in front made a mistake on a very tight right-hander, he went for the virtually non-existent gap. He managed to squeeze the Ford Fiesta between him and the barrier and overtake, missing both by mere inches…
