Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port factory has been building cars for fifty years, and in 2014 it produced it five millionth model. The plant currently employs 1,800 workers and makes the Vauxhall variant of the Opel Astra (basically the same car but with right-hand drive).

To celebrate the occasion, the manufacturer has launched a video reminding us of all the cool models that rolled out of the factory gates and how the GM takeover eventually made them lose all identity and just make German cars with a different badge… Well, that last part was probably not their intention, but which is cooler: a Vauxhall-designed Viva or a rebadged Astra?

The video in question is still worth a watch, and it features “jumps, handbrake-turns and two-wheel precision driving with Vauxhalls old and new.” Scroll down and check it out after the virtual jump!
