There’s nothing really cutting edge about the Aston Martin Vantage in any guise or trim. It’s not a bad car, even if it’s not the fastest, but the one you really want is the V12 S model, preferably without the automatic gearbox which is a bit of a relic.

You have to drive it a certain way to appreciate its qualities and really make it sing – it’s not an ideal everyday supercar, although it should still be comfortable over long-ish journeys.

Its chassis is competent, and according to the CarThrottle review, it is an accomplished sports car with plenty of grip. Its problem really lies in the fact that it’s getting on a bit and it really looks and feels ten years behind some of the cars you can buy today for roughly the same money – think BMW i8 if you want real contrast.
