Chicago native Nico Deportago-Cabrera is one of the fastest bike messengers in the world and it goes without saying that he knows his hometown better than anyone.
In a video released by Red Bull, the bike messenger tests his knowledge of the streets against the best cab driver he can find in a head-to-head race across the city.
The race took place in the middle of the afternoon in pre-rush hour traffic and started in downtown Chicago from the Willis Tower, with the final point set in Wrigleyville neighborhood. The bike’s route was 5.6 miles (9 kilometers), while the cab had to cover 7.2 miles (11.6 kilometers) to reach the same destination.
