You probably remember the drag race between the BMW i8 and M4 that the former model won under some special circumstances (the M4 was fitted with the slower 6sp manual).
Now we have another comparison between the two cars, but this time the duel took place on a circuit (Castle Combe in the UK), where Autocar’s Steve Sutcliffe got to drive both cars to see which is faster on a race track.
It didn’t take him too long to realize that the i8 doesn’t stand a chance against the more powerful M4, but that didn’t make him like the M4 more. On the contrary, he absolutely loved the BMW i8, a car that he says exceeded all his expectations.
As for the BMW M4, while faster than the i8 round the circuit, it was not as fun to drive as Sutcliffe expected it to be. Find out why in the video below.
