After seeing the prototypes with the vivid color scheme, some called it the Green Monster and others the Hulk, but ask Mercedes-Benz, and they’ll tell you it’s the G63 AMG 4×4.
It’s the little (in the G-World) brother of the ridiculous G63 AMG 6×6 with a regular, five-door SUV body and four, instead of six wheels.
What it retains from the 6×6 is the body kit with the broader wheel arches and running boards, modified bumpers and roof extension, along with a substantially raised suspension, which in the case of the former, offers a massive 460mm (18.1 in.) of ground clearance (more than double than the regular G63’s 210mm or 8.3 in.). It also rides on similar, giant-sized wheels and tires.
We suspect that power will come from the stock G63 AMG’s turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine that’s good for 544-horsepower and 760 Nm (560 lb-ft).
The G63 AMG 4×4 will likely be a limited production model, possibly aimed at certain markets such as the Middle East, which is known for its voracious appetite for these types of vehicles. It’s planned to be revealed during the course of 2015.
