Jaguars of the not too distant future may have their windows go up or down without so much as touching a button. Apparently, the group is working on making the tech viable, and they’ve already found a way to do it.
No real details were spared, but the brand’s design director, Ian Callum, did confirm it’s coming. Autoblog quote him speaking on the sidelines of the Detroit auto show.
“For instance, if you want to pull the windows down, you touch a certain area of the glass and you can actually just drop them down,” said Callum, who added that, “These things are all a work in progress at the moment – that’s coming.”
It could be more advanced versions of what the it already uses to operate the interior lighting and glovebox opening mechanism (see old, low quality video below) of the XF. There will probably be areas of the glass which you’ll touch to make it work.
We can’t really give you any more on this right now, but it is an interesting prospect to ponder – opening a window without needing to reach for a button; smokers may find this feature very useful for driving on the highway.
