Although it has the very successful Qashqai SUV in its lineup, Nissan wants to increase its C-segment share in Europe with the Pulsar, a traditional compact hatchback which aims to compete with the VW Golf.

Carbuyer’s Ginny Buckley wanted to find out how capable the Pulsar is and the first thing she noticed was how spacious it is compared to its competitors, especially at the rear. The Pulsar also has a bigger boot than its main rivals, with only the Skoda Octavia beating it in this respect.

The tested car was fitted with the base 1.2-liter DIG-T turbocharged petrol engine which produces 115PS (114hp) and 190 Nm (140 lb-ft) of torque. The reviewer noted that with this engine the Nissan Pulsar is pretty quick and reasonably economical. It’s not a sporty car, but there’s a good reason for that: it wasn’t designed to be sporty.

The Pulsar puts more emphasis on comfort, as you will find out from the review posted below.
