Being that the new C-Class sedan shows a clear family resemblance to the S-class saloon, it’s no surprise that the two-door version apes the styling of the S-Class Coupe.
Even the C-Class Coupe’s rear end is expected to have a similar feel, despite the fact that you cannot see it here, as this prototype was fitted with a fake, BMW 6-Series E63-style rump to keep it safe from prying eyes.
Compared to the new C-Class Sedan, codenamed W205, only the fascia appears to be unaffected, as the rest of the body looks unique, with Mercedes even moving the exterior mirrors to the doors, which themselves, are frameless.
We haven’t captured the interior yet, but in these cases, the norm is for manufacturers to share the dashboard, instrument binnacle and center console with the parent model.
As per the other C-Class body styles, the Coupe’s engine lineup will be similar to the sedan, so expect turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and diesel (in certain markets) units, along with a 362hp turbocharged V6 petrol for the C450 AMG and a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 for the flagship C63 AMG (470hp / 476PS) and C63 AMG S (503hp / 510PS) models.
We should see the new C-Class Coupe later this year, possibly at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Mercedes’ C-Class plans also include a soft-top Convertible version.
