You can’t tell just by looking at it on the outside, but SsangYong’s new Rexton W CSX is classified as a light commercial vehicle (LCV).
The transformation is pretty simple and involves the fitment of covered up rear profile windows and the removal of the rear sear bench to create a 2.2 cu metre load volume with a deck length of 1,700mm, and 1,070mm between the wheel arches. It can also carry up to 615kg (1,356 pounds), and has a 3 tonne towing capability.
Priced from £18,495 excluding VAT in the UK, the Rexton W CSX is otherwise mechanically identical to the regular passenger version of the series, with power coming from a 2.0 litre turbo e-XDi200 diesel engine delivering 155PS (153hp) at 4,000rpm and maximum torque of 360Nm from 1,500 to3,000rpm. The CSX has a 6-speed manual transmission and standard all-wheel drive with low range.
Standard equipment includes cruise control, air conditioning, electrically operated & heated door mirrors, leather covered steering wheel and gear knob, CD & RDS radio with iPod and Bluetooth connectivity, plus a multitude of safety features such as Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Active Rollover Protection (ARP)
