The Patagonia Special made a thrilling mark to the return of the latest season of Top Gear. However, it was only the appetizer before the main course: Top Gear Season 22 Episode 1 airs Sunday, January 25.
The latest Season of Top Gear promises to be as action packed as ever. On Saturday, the official Top Gear website offered a number of teaser photos. For Season 22, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May will take on new a Top Gear special in Canada, a race across Saint Petersburg, a challenge across the Australian Outback, and more.
After countless bargain car challenges, Top Gear is presenting a modern GT challenge to see whether new cars with complex electronics can cope as well as older and mechanically simpler cars across brutal environments like the Outback. Clarkson, Hammond, and May choose a BMW 6-series Gran Coupe, a Bentley Continental GT, and a Nissan GT-R respectively across Australia’s desert terrain.
The new season will also bring the trio to Canada for a different sort of test. New smart watches are capable of utilizing internal GPS to send distress signals from any part of the world. To see whether or not the new watch is effective, Richard Hammond is sent to the barren tundra of British Columbia. In this challenge, Clarkson and May must retrieve their colleague with the help of a special Hennessey VelociRaptor truck that is based on the already supremely capable Ford SVT Raptor pickup.
Other teased segments in the upcoming season include a bargain SUV challenge, an ambulance R&D challenge, a race across Russia’s Saint Petersburg in a Renault Twizy electric car, a Peugeot tribute segment, a classic collector’s car challenge, a BMW i8 test, and more.
The Top Gear Season 22 release date is Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015. Stay tuned for more updates!
