Blending the already sporty looks of the cee’d GT with the versatility of the conventional cee’d, both inside and out, the KIA cee’d GT Line spec will be unveiled on March 3rd in Geneva.

The cee’d GT Line will be available on all three cee’d body types (5 door hatch, 3 door pro_cee’d and cee’d Sportswagon) and it will feature KIA’s all new three-cylinder 1.0 liter T-GDi engine as well as a new 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT).

In terms of looks, you get ice-cube LED daytime running lights and deeper bumpers around KIA’s hallmark ‘tiger-nose’ grille up front, while at the back you’ll enjoy a wider GT bumper with twin exhausts to go with the rear LED light units.

To round things off, there’s also a set of brand new 17″ alloy wheels with a clean and sporty design meant to attract younger buyers.

Inside, the cee’d GT Line features a sportier ambiance, similar to the GT spec models and boasting a new grey, white and black upholstery with grey stitching, GT Line logos as well as the same GT-inspired piano black and leather steering wheel and aluminum alloy pedals.

The dashboard also gets a new aluminum start-stop button, USB and aux-in port illumination and new chrome trim around the air vents and power window switches.

KIA is also introducing its all-new 1.0 liter ‘T-GDi’ engine, a three-cylinder power unit engineered to improve fuel consumption and emissions without sacrificing on performance. This is also the first of KIA’s upcoming range of downsized engines to make its European debut.

The 1.0 liter T-GDi unit produces 120 PS and 172 Nm of torque and delivers lower emissions than the 1.6 liter GDi engine found in other cee’d models. The KIA cee’d is now set to better rival the 1.0 liter 3-cylinder EcoBoost Ford Focus as well as the 1.0 liter 3-cylinder PureTech Citroen C4 facelift.

The T-GDi was developed in-house at KIA’s Namyang R&D center in Korea and features a high-pressure direct injection system, advanced engine cooling and an integrated exhaust manifold – where it will later see the light of day on other vehicles in KIA’s European model line-up.

And since we’re on the subject of power units, the cee’d’s 1.6 liter CRDi diesel engine has had its power bumped from 128 to 133 PS – which doesn’t sound like much but the 265 to 285 Nm of torque increase is a decent one, so you should get slightly better acceleration from lower engine speeds.

The arrival of KIA’s 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) marks the second new technology set to debut on the new cee’d GT Line. However it will only be available on GT Line models equipped with the 133 PS 1.6 liter CRDi turbodiesel unit – as it’s capable of handling torque outputs of up to 300 Nm.

The KIA cee’d GT Line will go on sale in Q4 2015, while continuing to offer customers KIA’s unique 7-year, 100,000 mile warranty as standard.
