The Red Band Trailer for the upcoming biographical drama film ‘Straight Outta Compton’ was recently introduced by none other than Ice Cube and Dr Dre, with a little help from the Chrysler 300.
A few years ago, while promoting his Beats sound system (which later sold to Apple for a small fortune), Dr Dre also campaigned for the Chrysler 300, part of that cool “Imported from Detroit” series of ads – which could mean that their ongoing collaboration is still taking place.
In this case, the Chrysler 300 is used by both Dre as well as Ice Cube, helping them take a ride through LA and reflect back on the streets of Compton, on California in the mid 80s and how the group NWA revolutionized pop culture with their music.
That’s pretty much the plot of the movie too, which revolves around the rise and fall of N.W.A rap group, with members such as Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella.
We’ve also got a guest appearance from Snoop Dogg (the actor who plays a young Snoop to be precise), so overall we’re excited about seeing this movie and we’re also curious if Chrysler will do any product placement or if the promo was part of their partnership with Dr Dre.
Note: This trailer has been rated ‘R‘ (Restricted Audiences)
