The 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed will honour Mazda with its central feature dedicated to the innovations and achievements in motoring and motorsport of the Japanese manufacturer.
Each year the world’s most glamorous motoring festival pays tribute to a specific brand. Last year was Mercedes-Benz. This year’s central sculpture is created by Gerry Judah and Mazda, and “will provide a spectacular backdrop to the Festival of Speed”.
Mazda is the only Japanese manufacturer to have won the Le Mans 24 Hours and the victorious rotary-engined 787B will please the crowd with its special soundtrack as it will be driven up Goodwood’s hillclimb along with other iconic examples from the same brand.
“The theme for this year’s Festival of Speed is ‘Flat-Out and Fearless: Racing on the Edge,’ and Mazda’s continual push to reject engineering conventions and strive for something unique perfectly aligns with this philosophy” Lord March said with Jeremy Thompson, Managing Director of Mazda UK adding “Mazda has a long and proud heritage in racing, and through motor sport has demonstrated its engineering challenger spirit through the rotary engine, its Le Mans win and the LMP2 SKYACTIV diesel prototype currently racing in the United States.”
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the most iconic motoring celebrations globally, will open its gates from June 26th to June 28th and is expected to attract massive interest, both from the manufacturers and audience.
