This car is believed to be one out of 10 or 12 De Tomaso Guara Barchettas ever made and the only one out of three believed to be in the USA that’s powered by a BMW V8.
Later models in the Guara’s limited production run that started in 1993 and ended in 2004 were fitted with Ford’s 320hp 4.6-liter V8. De Tomaso built around 50 Guaras, including 4 Spiders and between 36 and 38 coupes.
The red Guara Barchetta has the 279hp (283PS) BMW 4.0-liter V8 paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox with the 1996 model having covered approximately 8,850 miles or about 14,240 km since new.
According to the eBay seller from California, “it comes with U.S. Customs papers showing it’s clearing in December 2014 at the Port of Long Beach and its title from Japan”, with the ad stating that the Barchetta is in excellent condition with no dents or dings and a bright Rosso Corso paint.
The last bit of information we have to share with you is none other than the asking price, which to the disappointment of many of car enthusiasts, stands close to $185,000.
