The 2016 Ford Focus RS has leaked onto the internet in all of its blue Ford Performance glory – with all-wheel drive this time?
A few photos have made their way around Monday evening, without any specifications yet released by Ford. However, expect those soon ahead of its previously scheduled February 3 unveil.
In the meantime, think of 300-something horsepower from a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine borrowed from the new Mustang (tuned, of course), possibly retaining the front-wheel drive setup of its predecessors with the help of a limited slip differential and Ford’s RevoKnuckle front suspension system that dramatically reduces the torque steer.
For what it’s worth, we’ve also heard rumors of an all-wheel drive setup.
And, oh, it’s also been confirmed as a global vehicle – go USA!
UPDATE: New reports from a Jalopnik commenter and Evo suggest “torque-vectoring all-wheel drive” is going to be a reality for this new Focus RS. Evo also reports the RS will sport 350 horsepower from the 2.3 Ecoboost, all the better to crush any thought of the Volkswagen Golf R.
