VW has a recent history of creating clever and/or amusing ads that always seem to be expertly steered away from the usual clichés – think “The Force,” or the original ad for the first Golf GTi.
The automaker’s most recent campaign uses more humor to highlight the qualities of its cars, and in the case of the Tiguan crossover, they actually show off the creature that inspired it (or its name, rather).
Yep, VW shows off a small creature that bears the body of an iguana but the head of a (slightly deformed) Bengal biter. We like it that the automaker is fully embracing the slightly odd choice of name for its small crossover, and it’s made the nameplate much cooler as a result – it’s still a bit silly, but at least they’re acknowledging it and having a laugh (at themselves for choosing it).
