BMW has really toned down the surprised (yet somehow sad) bottom-feeding fish face of the 1-Series with its revision. Now, it’s just as good looking as any BMW in the range, but whether that’s a good thing we’ll let you decide.
The 1-Series sports a totally redesigned face, with reshaped headlights and bumper. At the back, the transformation is also noticeable – this is one BMW where the LCI really made a difference. However, it could be argued that it’s now a less individual model; the previous incarnations stood out a lot more, even if for all the wrong reasons.
Hop aboard the new 1 and you’re immediately struck by just how much they didn’t bother with it. They only changed the controls for the radio and climate control and made a new M Sport steering wheel available.
This is the first rear-driven BMW to get a three-cylinder engine, which is what you’ll have to contend with if you opt for the for either the 116i or 116d. There are still 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrols and diesels available too and the M135i gains 7 hp for a new grand total of 322 hp.
The 1-Series facelift just debuted in Geneva and you can scroll down to see the very first live photos of it.
