Few people knew that Bob Marley used to drive a Land Rover. However, when the Sandals Resorts International, regional distributors for Land Rover found out, the project of restoring Marley’s vehicle back to its former glory begun.
The goal was to have the car ready by Bob Marley’s 70th birthday. The 1977 Series III was sitting under a shed in Jamaica for many years, without an engine, and according to the engineers responsible for the restoration it was found in a poor condition, with a bended chassis and cargo bed, with corroded panels everywhere, making them realize that this project will be even more difficult than first thought.
Rohan and Stephanie Marley have fond memories of travelling in the back of the blue Land Rover with their dad driving them all over Jamaica. To see their father’s old car returning back to its showroom condition is one hell of a way to celebrate Bob Marley’s 70th birthday and one of the coolest restoration projects we have ever seen.
