There are many automotive repair and refurbishment jobs that border on being an art form: applying paint to body panels is the first one, polishing is another and now we can add windscreen repairs too.
You probably already know that you can repair your mildly chipped windscreen, and you don’t necessarily have to replace every time. It depends on the depth and overall damage done by the chip and whether or not it affected the screen’s structure.
If it hasn’t, then you can drill a hole through the first layer of glass (modern windscreens have at least two layers with a kind of plastic in between). You need to release any air trapped in between the glass sheets, a space which you then fill with acrylic.
This prevents any air from coming back in and if done well you can hardly see it.
