Hyundai has applied a significant makeover to the ix20 compact MPV at the Geneva Motor Show, with the model receiving styling, equipment and technical upgrades.
The ix20 has been brought up to date with Hyundai’s recent styling language with the addition of newly-designed bi-function projector headlamps and LED taillights, a new hexagonal front grille, as well as a new 15-inch wheel cover design and new 16- and 17-inch alloy wheel options.
The cabin gets new equipment including a heated steering wheel and a new generation audio system with iPod connectivity and integrated My Music (1GB storage), as well as Bluetooth connectivity and a USB and AUX connection. The refreshed Hyundai ix20 is also available with two new interior colors (Black and Two-Tone Beige) for the cloth upholstery. Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, ESP, ABS and EBD.
From a technical point of view, the ix20 is now available with a new six-speed automatic transmission and some power and torque upgrades for the engines. The two diesel units have received more torque (240Nm for the 1.4-liter and 260Nm for the 1.6-liter) from 1,500 rpm, while the 1.6-liter petrol unit can now be had with a new six-speed automatic that replaces the previous four-speed auto.
Fuel-saving technologies include Integrated Stop & Go (ISG), low rolling-resistance tyres, an alternator management system (AMS) and a drag-reducing ‘active air flap’ in the front grille.
