Lexus is still notably better than any other brand out there when it comes to reliability. Now, for a fourth year in a row, the luxury arm of Toyota maintains its title, according to the latest J.D. Power U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study or VDS.
Surprisingly, Lexus is not seconded by another Japanese brand, but America’s own Buick, then closely followed by Toyota in third spot.
The 2015 VDS yields information on which faults are the most common too. In 2014, it seems the most prevalent problems were those regarding Bluetooth, sat-nav and gadgets in general.
However, they’re not the most common and infotainment generally ranks third as a source of concern, preceded by powertrain issues in second and topped off with exterior problems.
Complaints from owners seem to be heavily concentrated on electronics and connectivity. Bluetooth and voice recognition are seen as especially bad.
Interestingly, according to The Detroit Bureau, the number of problems reported by 35,000-strong pool of survey participants actually went up compared to previous years.
Also worth noting is that the survey has been redesigned and it cannot be compared to others before in an “apples to apples” fashion. Check out the list and highlights from each vehicle class posted below.
