Unfortunately for all of us, we weren’t treated to the Sports Series at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, so we’ll just have to wait another month for its official debut in NY.

The Sports Series is yet another highly anticipated model that McLaren is planning to win us over with, only this time, we’re talking about an entry-level, Porsche 911 Carrera rival. It will also take on the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GT and the Audi R8 in an attempt to give the 650S and the 675LT more breathing room in tackling more powerful supercars such as the Huracan, the 488 GTB and so on.

Even though the car stays in camouflage throughout the entire video, we already know that it’ll look quite similar to other McLaren products, having some instantly recognizable features.

As for that mid-mounted V8 symphony we’re hearing for the first time, it’s a detuned version of the 650S’s engine, possibly putting down around 500 HP – but we’ve yet to hear anything official about power and torque figures, let alone how fast it goes.

McLaren have also stated that this will be a better daily driver than the 650S, with a more roomier interior and more luggage space.

With this in mind, it’s quite possible that a car such as this will become a best seller for McLaren, since not all people can afford to pay 650S and above prices.

The Sports Series is expected to go on sale in Q2 of 2015.
