Kia just shared the first real picture of its new generation 2016 Optima sedan prior to its world debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show on April.

Previously seen only through scoop pictures and more recently, a pair of…slightly misleading sketches that made it look cooler than reality, the Korean mid-size sedan shows its true face in a single image.

The styling of the front is fairly close to Kia’s Sportspace Concept from this month’s Geneva Motor Show and it includes the new elongated interpretation of the brand’s ‘Tiger Nose’ grille together with the more prominently designed lower air vents.

According to the limited information provided by Kia, the new 2016 Optima will be “available with multiple engine choices” and have “a more spacious interior, class-up premium features and a number of technologies not previously offered” on the current model.

The North American spec model should share its engine range with the latest Hyundai Sonata offering 1.6-liter turbo, a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated four and a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit, while Europe will likely get a revised version of the current car’s 1.7-liter CRDi turbodiesel and possibly, a mild-hybrid combining the same diesel with a small electric motor.
