Following the acquisition of a 25 percent stake in Italian motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta last year, Mercedes-AMG has begun to promote the partnership.
The first visible result of the collaboration between the two brands is the MV Agusta-branded Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM race car, which will race in the 2015 edition of the DTM series in the hands of driver Maximilian Götz. The logo of the Italian motorcycle manufacturer is placed visibly on the hood of the Mercedes‑AMG DTM car driven by Mücke Motorsport’s DTM rookie Maximilian Götz.
While the 29-year-old will compete in his debut season in the touring car series at the wheel of the MV Agusta-branded Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM, riders from MV Agusta works teams in World Superbike and World Supersport series will sport the Mercedes-AMG logo on their MV Agusta F3 and F4 RC machines.
The Italian manufacturer is one of the most successful brands in the world of motorcycle racing. Overall, MV Agusta has so far achieved 75 world titles (37 constructors’ titles and 38 drivers’ titles) and 270 grand prix victories. Among the riders that wore MV Agusta’s colors are legendary names like record world champion Giacomo Agostini, Carlo Ubbiali, John Surtees, Mike Hailwood and Phil Read.
“Mercedes-AMG and MV Agusta – the two marques are united in their passion for competition; the constant striving for the highest performance and the quest to finish on the podium are reflected in both company’s products. It is therefore a logical step for us to continue to write our racing history together in the upcoming DTM season,” said Tobias Moers, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
