Following the world premiere of the new Caddy last month in Poznań, Poland, VW Commercial Vehicles have unveiled the long-wheelbase Caddy Maxi at the Geneva Motor Show.

The Caddy Maxi is 470mm (18.5in) longer overall than the standard Caddy and has a 320mm (12.6in) longer wheelbase. Available both as a passenger and a panel van, the Caddy Maxi boasts superior interior and luggage space.

The passenger version has three rows of seats and can carry 7 people, with a cargo volume of 530 liters (18.7 cu-ft).

When the third row seat is removed, storage volume grows to 1,350 liters (47.7 cu-ft), and when the second seat row is also removed it increases to 3,700 liters (130.6 cu-ft).

As a result, the Caddy Maxi offers 848 liters (29.9 cu-ft) more cargo space than the 2,852 liters (100.7 cu-ft) in the small Caddy with rear seats removed. The maximum payload of the Caddy Maxi panel van, including the driver, is 1,005 kg (2,215 lbs).

The Caddy Maxi shares the same diesel engine options with the standard Caddy: four 2.0-liter TDI units with outputs ranging from 75PS to 150PS. It is also available with two petrol engines: a 102PS 1.0-liter 3-cylinder TSI and a 125PS 1.4-liter four-cylinder TSI.

The new Caddy Maxi is priced from €18,590 in Germany (the panel van) and €18,960 (the passenger version). Prices don’t include 19 percent VAT. The models will arrive in German dealerships at the end of June and in other countries shortly after.
