The launch of the all-new Opel Astra towards the end of this year has been recently confirmed by CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann. The new generation model will most likely be unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show in autumn, with deliveries scheduled for early 2016.

While we’ve seen some development prototypes, their camouflage didn’t allow us to get a clear idea of the car’s design. The only part of the car that has been uncovered by spy photographers is the interior, which features a new infotainment system with considerably less buttons, a redesigned center console.

But what about the exterior? It’s anyone’s guess right now, but “automotive manipulator” Theophilus Chin’s proposal is the most interesting of all renderings we’ve seen so far. He chose to draw the estate version of the upcoming Astra, fitting it with a “floating roof” solution at the rear that would really make it stand out among competitors.

It remains to be seen though whether this design feature will be used on the production car.
