You may be surprised, but until now, Nissan has offered the e-NV200 electric minivan in a five seat configuration only. Well, the automaker has now fixed that with the release of a seven seat version at the Geneva Motor Show.

Nissan says the addition of the third row of seats has been requested by VIP transfer companies, hotels, taxis and private customers.

“We have always planned to offer a higher-seating capacity version of the Nissan e-NV200. Marketplace demand has meant we have moved this introduction forward by several months to satisfy this need,” said Nissan Europe’s director of electric vehicles, Jean-Pierre Diernaz.

The seven seat version of the e-NV200 has two seats in the front, three in the middle and two in the rear. Luggage capacity is 443 liters (15.6 cu-ft) under the tonneau cover, and up to 870 liters (30.7 cu-ft) when measured to the roof line.

Both the second and third rows can be folded to allow for larger quantities of luggage to be carried, opening up 2,940 liters (103.8 cu-ft) of cargo capacity – enough to transport three bicycles with the wheels in place.

The seven seat option is available both for the fully-trimmed e-NV200 Evalia and the e-NV200 Combi, which come equipped with additional rear air conditioning for passengers in the third row of seating. Nissan will begin taking orders from April.
