Around three years ago, several US-based engineers created a perfect life-sized version of the Light Cycle from the movie Tron. The bike not only looked exactly like the one in the film, but it was also very silent and futuristic, as it was powered purely by electricity.
It’s fully featured, with lights and everything you need to ride it on the road. The lights are obviously the same as those on the movie bikes, but here they serve a functional purpose as well.
Now, the bike is going up for auction on May 2nd and it’s expected to fetch north of $40,000; it was around $55,000 new.
To be fair, it’s probably more for show than actually going places, as its autonomy is not specified (can’t be huge) and the seating position may be like in the movie, but comfortable it surely is not.
Keep in mind, though, that this is not a one-off, and you should still be able to order a new one from Melbourne, Florida; it takes them around a week to hand-build, but we don’t really know if you can still order one or if they’ve moved on to new products – this is a few years old, you know…
