A patrol car dash-cam captured the high-speed chase of a man suspected of armed robbery and the hijacking of a Toyota Tundra in Albany, Georgia.
Speaking to WBRC, Dougherty County Police Investigators, said that the suspect, William Bryan Owens, 22, “robbed Jerry Peterman, with a realistic looking BB gun, in the 700 block of River Chase Lane as he was picking up his mail”, taking his wallet, cell phone and 2008 Toyota Tundra truck.
Only minutes later, Lee County Sheriff’s Deputies found Owens and tried to stop him, but the young man led the cops on a wild chase that reportedly reached speeds of over 100mph (+160km/h) across three South Georgia counties.
The cops eventually caught up with him and rammed his Tundra – not sure why they continued ramming the truck after it was clear that the suspect gave up and the Toyota was immobilized.
“It took us 15 minutes to cover that 20 miles. It’s the longest chase I’ve ever been in,” said Cpl. Richard Norman.
Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Owens now faces a bundle of charges including, hijacking, armed robbery, aggravated assault on a peace officer, fleeing, and probation and parole violations.
