Ford has announced it will unveil seven new vehicles for Asia Pacific at Auto Shanghai 2015 (April 22-29), including the new Taurus, which was developed with Chinese customers in mind.

The famous nameplate will arrive in China for the first time, with Ford promising the sedan will bring “sophisticated design, roomy space and advanced technology.” Ford didn’t say whether the new Taurus for China is the same model that will be unveiled in the United States this year, but we’d be surprised if it wasn’t given Ford’s global approach to new models.

If so, it’s an interesting decision to unveil it in Shanghai rather than in New York, but since China is the world’s largest car market the decision shouldn’t surprise anyone. The Taurus will be Ford’s flagship for China and will be shown for the first time on April 18, during a special pre-show event. Ford didn’t offer many details about the new Taurus, but said it’s a “sophisticated, expressive large sedan designed especially to meet the needs of Chinese consumers.”

The automaker added that the Taurus will benefit from Ford’s global expertise in vehicle design and development and will incorporate advanced technologies.

Besides the new Taurus, six other new vehicles will make their debuts in Asia Pacific, including the Ford GT, Focus RS and Focus ST.
