We could do without that convoluted grille design, but overall, we’d say that Changan’s Raeton CC concept is one of the nicest looking local concepts to debut at the Shanghai Auto Show.
Changan says the study will inspire a production four-door coupe model that will go up against the VW CC in the very near future.
It’s based on the platform of the firm’s existing Raeton mid-size sedan, but instead of the latter’s conventional, gasoline-fueled 156hp 2.0-liter and 174hp 1.8-liter turbo engines, the study gets an electric motor capable of 123kW (165hp) and 335Nm.
According to the Chinese carmaker, the battery-powered sports saloon can hit 100km/h (62mph) in “4.12 seconds”, which frankly sounds overly optimistic for the size of the car and the low output of the electric motor.
