Ferrari’s explicit exclusivity experiment was the theme and direction under chairman Luca di Montezemolo, who wanted to keep the brand as elitist as possible. Now that the reigns have been passed to the much more pragmatic Sergio Marchionne, it seems that tactic is about to fall and we just might see the entry level Ferrari we were told we were never going to – an baby Dino.
The source of the information is said to be somebody deep inside Fiat-Chrysler, made public by MT’s Jonny Lieberman via his Twitter account.
He doesn’t spare any details on the supposed model’s specifics, other than the fact it will rival the Mercedes AMG GT and McLaren 570S while costing around about the same as those cars.
Engine-wise, it’s obviously going to be twin-turbo V6-powered, although we could see it using a detuned version of the V8 used to push the new 488 (pictured) along. Finally, the year of release for the model is said to be 2019(-ish).
