When Ford released the first press photos of the all-new Taurus, there was no image showing the sedan’s rear end. Thanks to the live photos from the Shanghai Auto Show, we can now take a look at the back of the Taurus.
It’s not a very pretty sight: it looks quite bland and uninspiring, but that’s just my two cents. While the Taurus looks like a larger Fusion, sporting similar headlights, grille and profile, the taillights are less expressive than on the Fusion.
However, the new Taurus’ greatest asset is the “exceptionally roomy cabin,” as the sedan is 5,000mm (196.8in) long and has a 2,950mm (116.1in) wheelbase.
Second-row legroom described as abundant by Ford, with rear passengers also benefiting from generous shoulder and hip room. Second-row passengers also spoiled with power-reclining rear seats with optional adjustable lumbar support and a massage function. They also get a control panel for air conditioning, seat functions and car media hidden in the center seat cushion.
In China, the new Ford Taurus gets the new twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, with an as-yet-unspecified power rating. The large sedan will be built at the Changan Ford Hangzhou Plant in China, following a $760 million investment. The facility has a maximum annual capacity of 250,000 vehicles on a flexible production line.
