Dat ASS…no, not that ASS, but the other ASS, the one from Kaege that stands for Active-Sound System and which promises to give your V6 diesel-powered Porsche Macan S a bogus V8 sound.
According to the German tuner, the Active-sound module is activated through the “Sport” and “Sport Plus” buttons on the lower center console, with the cruise control arm allowing you to choose from 36 sound variations.
Here’s what Kaege says: “On the exhaust system an active sound system with actors and acoustic rpm increase device warrants for very sportive V8-sound, individually adjustable via cruise control lever.”
They shared a video in which they show how ASS is activated and sounds, and while we know that Active-Sound systems pump fake noises to the interior through the speakers, for some reason, they’re supposedly showing how the car sounds from the outside as well. We reached out to Kaege for an answer and we’ll update you as soon as they get back to us.
Elsewhere, Kaege offers a €1,490 (equal to US$1,577) ECU tune up that gives the Macan S 3.0-liter V6 Diesel 310PS (306hp) and 700Nm, up from 258PS (255hp) and 580Nm respectively.
For Macans fitted with an air suspension, there’s an electronic lowering module priced at €1,299 (US$1,375), while for regular models, a KW sports suspension for €1,349 (US$1,428).
You can also get new 21-inch rims wrapped in 265/40 tires front and 295/35 rear for €3,690 (US$3,906) and a subtle cosmetics package that includes front and rear aprons, plus red-painted brake calipers for €1,090 (US$1,153).
