This could prove to be Lexus’ most popular variant of the all-new RX, at least in Europe where displacement matters. The Japanese automaker has just revealed the RX200t at the Shanghai auto show, featuring the same 228hp 2.0-liter turbo inline-four that it uses in the NX and more recently the ES.
Lexus didn’t say how efficient it is, but the model is an efficiency exercise, just like the very popular hybrid variants; this is just a simpler way of doing it, by downsizing and turbocharging instead of adding motors and batteries on top of larger engines.
The RX200t will replace the RX270 nameplate, and the manufacturer promises that compared to it, “you’ll notice that a major appeal point of the RX 200t is its ability to deliver seamless and continuous acceleration up to the mid- to high-speed range.” It can also be had with the sportier F-Sport pack, as seen in the photos below.
The biggest news here is the addition of the four-pot, as you already have all the details on the completely new RX in the article we published right around its launch.
