If your M-Class Merc was getting a bit outdated or you were looking for a brand new mid-size premium SUV, the freshly restyled and renamed GLE can already be ordered.

The “new” GLE is nothing more than a facelifted M-Class, featuring redesigned front and tail ends as well as more economical engines. Across the range, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by 17% (on average), and for the first time ever, Mercedes is offering a plug-in-hybrid model, the GLE 500 e 4MATIC.

If that’s how you want to go about your daily commute, it will cost you €73,899, as long as you live in Germany. The entry-level GLE 250 d version with its 204 HP turbodiesel engine will set you back €53,966 – this being the most financially accessible way for you to enter the GLE family.

The top of the line Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 and 63 S versions will require you to make a sizable investment worth €111,384 and €121,261 respectively. In comparison, the BMW X5 M costs less at €114,300 and offers up only 10 fewer HP than the GLE 63 S.

Oftentimes though when it comes to Mercedes-Benz SUVs, your best bet when buying a regular version is to go for bang-for-buck and focus on getting the best value while investing in some AMG Line exterior bits and pieces.

Deliveries are said to begin this August.
