A V12-powered G-Class probably makes about as much sense as strapping a rocket between your legs, but here we are anyway with Mercedes-Benz confirming the launch of the G65 AMG for this November.
Priced from $217,900, excluding a $925 destination and delivery charge, it will be the third most expensive vehicle in Merc’s US range and the fourth AMG model to be priced above $200,000 after the SL65 ($215,250), S65 sedan ($222,000), and S65 Coupe ($230,900).
Power comes from AMG’s twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 lump that produces 612hp (621PS) and 738 lb-ft. of torque, paired to an AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic and permanent all-wheel drive. It hits 60mph (96km/h) from standstill in 5.3 seconds.
Like other G-Class models, it gets the 4ETS electronic traction system, synchronized transfer case and three 100% differential locks.
