What we have here is a classic case of ‘Good news’ and ‘Bad news’ and of course an official version of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Final Edition.

Yes, here it is, a car we’ve been waiting for ever since laying eyes on the Evo X Final Concept a few months ago – this being the ‘good news’. We were hoping that the same performance package would be available for the production model as well, but sadly that isn’t the case.

So say goodbye to the 473 HP of the concept and come meet the 291 HP, 406 Nm (300 lb-ft) Lancer Evolution X Final Edition. You guessed it, it has exactly the same power output as the regular Evo X, so nothing has changed from that perspective.

However, what we are excited about are the Bilstein shocks, Brembo brakes, Eibach springs and lightweight BBS alloys that the Evo X Final Edition is riding on. Plus, inside there are black leather Recaro sports seats with red stitching, plus special “Final Edition” badges around the cabin.

Mitsubishi will produce only 1,000 units and sales will be restricted to Japan only, which adds to the ‘bad news’ we were talking about earlier. This, along with the power remaining the same as well as the fact that the Evo X will finally go quietly into the night.

Then again, despite its legendary status, it was never truly better than the Impreza STI if we’re being honest, so at least there’s that.

But we will definitely miss its sporty good looks on the road.
