It’s funny when you hear the same basic formulas for presenting supercars nearly 30 years ago as you do today; “usually, you have to make some compromises, but not with this lot…”

That’s the kind of argument used by MotorWeek to describe its chosen selection of late 1980s European exotics in this video that looks like it’s from no later than the early 1990s. Their choice is varied and features the Ferrari 328 GTB targa, Lotus Esprit Turbo, Lambo Jalpa and the then cutting edge Porsche 959 (one of the very first proper supercars).

If you’re into classic supercars or just sexy sheet metal, then the video posted after the virtual jump will be a small treat.

It’s always nice to see how cars were perceived by the press back in the day when they were much newer. The typical comment mentioned in the opening paragraph is probably an even older cliché that is more about technological progress than actual automobiles…
