Tesla replaced the base Model S 60 with the 70D, a dual-motor all-wheel drive version with 514hp on tap and an estimated NEDC range of 275 miles.
The 514hp come from the dual electric motors, allowing the Model S to sprint from zero to 60mph in just 5.2 seconds and reaching a top speed of 140mph. In comparison, the previous base Model S 60 had 380hp driving only its rear wheels, a 208 miles of range and a 0-60mph time of 5.9seconds.
The new entry-level Model S will have a starting price of $76,170 before any government incentives in the US and £54,500 (including Government UK Plug In Grant) in the UK, instead of the previous $71,070 and £49,900 starting prices but Tesla has equipped the 70D with previously optional extras like the Supercharging function and the adaptive cruise control.
The Model S range will now consist of four versions: 70D, rear-wheel drive 85, 85D and the notorious 700hp P85D. Tesla has also added three new colors to choose from: Ocean Blue, Obsidian Black, and Warm Silver.
