These fresh spyshots capture the next Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, which despite its moniker, is essentially the SUV passenger version of the recently revealed L200 pickup truck.

The Pajero Sport rivals the similarly built Toyota Hilux-based Fortuner, which itself, is getting a new generation model this year, and Ford Ranger-based Everest that was launch just this month.

Power should come from the same engine and transmissions found in the latest L200, including a 2.4-liter MIVEC turbo diesel available in two states of tune delivering 154PS (152hp) and 380Nm (280lb-ft), and 181PS (178hp) and 430Nm (317lb-ft) of torque respectively, paired to either a new 6sp manual or 5sp auto.

We expect Mitsubishi to officially reveal the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport before the end of this year.
