Alongside the China-only Lannia sedan, Nissan’s second world debut at the Shanghai Auto Show is the Murano Hybrid.
The Nissan Murano Hybrid is powered by the new supercharged QR25DER gasoline engine assisted by a 15kW (20hp) electric motor paired with a compact Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery.
The gasoline engine is the same one used by the Infiniti QX60 Hybrid – a 2.5-liter four-cylinder supercharged unit producing 250hp and 243lb-ft (329lb-ft) of torque.
The hybrid system is controlled by the Nissan Intelligent Dual Clutch System (one motor/two clutch parallel system). One clutch is located between the engine and the electric motor, while the other is placed between the electric motor and the transmission.
The automaker says the Murano Hybrid delivers “powerful driving performance” equivalent to the 3.5-liter V6 engine while offering a superior fuel economy, similar to a 2.0-liter engine.
No economy or performance specs were offered, but Nissan will likely release them when the Murano Hybrid goes on sale in China this summer. While the automaker didn’t say whether the hybrid version of Nissan’s flagship crossover will be offered on other markets as well, it will likely be available outside China, including the United States.
