French automaker PSA Peugeot Citroën has announced it is increasing output at its European plants to meet increasing demand in the region. France’s largest car manufacturer said more than 60,000 additional vehicles will be produced in Europe by the end of August 2015, accounting for a 10 percent production increase for the period.

Production will grow for all three of PSA’s brands (Peugeot, Citroën and DS), with the highest increase to be seen by the Citroën C4 Cactus. The company will build 9,000 additional units at its Madrid plant as the model has exceeded its targets with orders totaling nearly 30,000 since January.

Peugeot will also increase production of the 208, 2008 and 308, including the 308 SW version, while the number of DS 3 units built in Poissy, France will also rise. PSA added that volumes across the its range of utility vehicles will see a boost as well.

The automaker will also build more engines and gearboxes at its plants in France. The increase in production will lead to work schedule adjustments and, in some cases, to the short-term deployment of additional teams and the hiring of temporary workers.

“Growth in the European market is very good news for the entire automotive industry, from plants to dealership networks to suppliers. It’s having a real turbo effect on PSA’s performance. The positive development we’re seeing in the market today means we can step up execution of the Back in the Race plan, which was based on the assumption that the market would remain flat,” said Denis Martin, Executive Vice President, Operational Director Europe.
