Previously believed to be the name for the Mercedes-AMG GT, we have since learned that the SLC moniker will replace the SLK, and now, we have the first shots of the refreshed and renamed model.
Judging by our scoop shots, most cosmetic changes will take place in front with a more rounded and less pronounced grille together with new headlamp and bumper designs, while at the back, there should be new tail lamp graphics and a reworked bumper with more integrated tail pipes.
Mercedes has been updating all of its newer models’ infotainment systems, so expect a wider screen with the latest edition of Benz’s Comand software, and possibly, some revisions to the styling of the instrument panel and steering wheel.
Later this month, the current SLK will be getting an updated engine range for the regular lineup, but for the facelift, we could see Mercedes replacing the SLK55 AMG’s naturally-aspirated 421PS (416hp) 5.5-liter V8 with the newer 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 found in the C63 AMG and AMG GT sports cars. There’s also a possibility that Mercedes may add the 367PS (362hp) 3.0-liter turbo V6 from the C450 AMG to the SLC’s range.
If we don’t see the SLC at this fall’s Frankfurt Auto Show, then it should make its debut by next year’s Geneva motor show.
