If you’ve already answered the question why you’d want a pickup-truck conversion of the Range Rover other than to have something different, Startech can provide the answer to how you’re going to get it.
At the 2015 Shanghai auto show, the Brabus subsidiary presented their Range Rover Pickup Truck in a world premiere with the tuner stating that the transformation “required designing and manufacturing no less than 100 bodywork components from aluminum, carbon fiber and steel” to achieve what you see here.
Startech didn’t stop at cutting the roof and turning the boot into a “multi-purpose” flat load bed that measures 43 inches or 1.1 meters in length adding another 23-inches or 600mm when the tailgate is opened either by remote control or by a push of a button in the cockpit.
The German firm also gave the Range Rover Pickup a full-tune with a wide bodykit that adds flared wheel arches, rocker panels, restyled bumpers and more, 23-inch wheels fitted with high-performance tires size 305/30, and a customized interior.
Under the hood, the stock model’s supercharged 5.0-liter V8 was tweaked to produce 526PS (519hp) pushing the truck to 100km/h (62mph) in 5.3 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 250km/h (155mph), while Startech also developed an electronic module to lower the air-suspension by another 30mm at the touch of a button.
