Hyundai’s refreshed i40 came up for air at last month’s Geneva Motor Show, showing off its new hexagonal grille, 7-speed DCT gearbox, new headlights and a couple of new very helpful gadgets.

If you’re a fan, know that in the UK, you can purchase a brand new i40 for a base price of £19,600 OTR. Of course this would mean settling for the entry-level S trim version of the i40 saloon, which comes with 16″ alloys, Bluetooth connectivity, air-con, leather-wrapped multi-functioning steering wheel and automatic headlights.

We’ll admit, that’s not half bad. Still, if you need things such as a touchscreen sat-nav system with rear view parking camera and parking guidance system, climate control with auto defog, heated front seats, LED fog lights and a 7-speaker audio system, you’ll have to go for the SE Nav model, priced from £21,600.

You can also add keyless smart entry, a start/stop button and driver’s seat memory function by choosing the £23,100 SE Nav Business version.

Top of the range ‘Premium’ models, which start at £25,600, feature 18″ alloys, a panoramic sunroof with electric tilt and slide function and a super vision instrument cluster with LCD color display and lane departure warning.

While all of this sounds good, we think that the SE Nav version makes the most sense, which also happens to be a new trim level for the Hyundai i40.

Engine-wise, you’ll have a choice of two power-units, starting with a 115 HP 1.7 liter CRDi diesel engine, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Then there’s the 1.7 liter 141 HP CRDi, which you can either get with the same 6-speed manual box or a 7-speed DCT.
