Merc’s compact crossover, and specifically, the 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol-powered GLA 200, is at the epicenter of Vath’s latest tuning job.
Vath starts with the four-cylinder engine giving it a small boost through electronic optimization, increasing power from 156PS (154hp) and 250Nm to 184PS (181hp) and 310Nm respectively. The V20 ECU kit costs €850 plus €200 for mounting.
An extra €1,690 plus €250 for installing will get you a stainless steel down pipe sports exhaust system that promises to increase power between 5 and 8 percent, always according to Vath.
Also available is a higher-performance braking system for €390 plus a €200 installing fee, and 18-inch black alloy rims with matching tires for €864 plus €250 for mounting.
The total cost for the tune comes to €4,644 if you let Vath do all the work for you. A bog standard GLA 200 costs €29,601, so that means you would spend at least €34,245 in Germany – or you could just bite the bullet and get the 211PS (208hp) GLA 250 2.0-liter turbo for €35,581…
