While the logic behind Infiniti looking to get into the luxo pickup market seems okay (since Mercedes will be entering the segment), the Japanese automaker has not made any such announcements.
It could launch a pickup, and it would probably have an easier time adapting one of parent company Nissan’s more agricultural models.
This is, after all, what’s set to happen with the Mercedes pickup – it’s going to use the underpinnings of the Navara, but give it a new Mercedes-esque body and styling, plus better materials inside and a more distinct personality.
This rendering by Theophilus Chin portrays a very handsome looking truck. It’s as good a design effort as one could possibly ask for, with a bold face proudly showing the family grille, nice proportions and a sexy slightly arched crease running down the side.
Since pickups are so popular in the US, there’s no reason for automakers not to invest more in the segment, and Mercedes may soon not be the only manufacturer with ambitions to build a plush truck.
