Now, it may be wrong to dedicate an entire post to talking about a car’s engine note, but when the engine in question is a five-cylinder turbocharged affair, it all sounds clear. Audi has a tradition of making five-pots, which it has used in a variety of road and racing cars, with or without turbocharging.
The formula has been taken up to eleven with the TT Clubsport Turbo concept, which has a 600 PS output, all-wheel drive and can sprint to 100 km/h or 62 mph in 3.6 seconds.
The sound it makes is simply delicious, as it’s like nothing else in the industry (aside from a couple of high-performance Volvos…); it sounds like half of a V10, really.
It was obviously tuned to have a more dramatic and evocative note, since the car it equips needs to impress, but since Audi still uses the engine in production cars, it’s probably more of a showcase for the electric twin-turbo setup, which itself is highly audible, as well.
